Bengaluru [India], April 19 (ANI): The Union Cabinet has approved Phase 3 of the Bengaluru Metro, clearing a Rs 28,405-crore project that will add 44 kilometres of new track and 31 stations across two corridors.

Construction is expected to begin in September, with the first operational section targeted for 2030. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah called the approval a “long-awaited milestone” for the city’s crumbling transport infrastructure.

Phase 3 connects the airport corridor to western Bengaluru’s tech parks and residential belts, and is expected to cut peak-hour travel times by up to 40 per cent along the JP Nagar-Hebbal corridor. (ANI)
