Lucknow [India], April 19 (ANI): The Uttar Pradesh government has launched coordinated demolition drives across 12 districts targeting illegal constructions on the Ganga floodplain, following repeated warnings from the National Green Tribunal.

More than 1,400 structures have been identified for removal, including commercial establishments and religious buildings. Authorities said all affected parties received 30-day notices before action began.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath chaired a review meeting in Lucknow on Saturday, directing officials to complete the first phase by June. Environmental groups welcomed the move but questioned why earlier warnings had gone unenforced for years. (ANI)
