Dhaka [Bangladesh], April 18 (ANI): Bangladesh’s main opposition BNP and seven allied parties issued a joint statement on Saturday demanding that the interim government announce a poll schedule within six months, following Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus’s decision to extend his term.
The opposition called the extension “a breach of the understanding reached with political parties in October 2024.” BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said the party would begin district-level protests next week.
The Yunus administration has said reform commissions need additional time to complete their work before elections can be held credibly. The Election Commission has not yet set a tentative date. (ANI)
